Vendée Globe 2005

Without fault of Vincent Riou in the Vendée Earth
Without fault of Vincent Riou in the Vendée Earth

Almost three months of hope and nerves on our loft floor, before the last tack came to release the team: Vincent Riou partner and friend, won the Vendée Globe.

Hats off to Vincent, for this clean and perfect victory, achieved with modesty and hard work. We will remember for a long time this particularly close run race.

Mainsail, D4 Vectran-Taffeta-Taffeta, Solent D4 Vectran-Taffetas-Film, Staysail D4 Vectran-Taffeta-Taffeta and small Gennaker D4 Vectran-Film-Film, that was the formula chosen with Vincent and tweaked, reviewed, refined together for 15 months after his victorious Round Britain Race.

Far beyond the technical aspects, this Vendée was also an adventure in friendship. To Vincent’s success, to our great satisfaction we associate Michel Desjoyeaux and the crew of Mer Agitée, the Laurent family from PRB whose consistency deserved this success and Bob Fraser the father of D4.

And this was the 3rd Vendée Globe that is won with our sails ! Could we have ever dreamed of this ?

Thank you Vincent!
